Text | The Atlantic arrived in this city on Sunday evening last, and were met on their arrival at the depot by the representatives of a different club, who escorted them to the American Hotel, where a large crowd had assembled to bid them welcome. The Secretary of the Athletic wrote the Atlantic, requesting them to send their time of departure, that the club might make arrangements to receive them. No answer was returned to this, and hence the Athletic had no appointed committee in waiting to extend the honors. The Atlantic probably conceived that they could get along without a committee, and their formal reception smacks to us of humbug. |
