thrown out stealing third
Date | Saturday, August 9, 1856 |
---|---|
Text | (Unions of Morrisania vs. Baltics 7/31/1856) Mr. Valentine...made a good strike and reached the second base. He was followed by Mr. Abrams, a good and sure batter, and we felt certain that he would terminate the game in favor of the Union. Previous to his striking, however, Mr. Valentine run [sic] from the second to the third base, which he undoubtedly reached before being touched with the ball thrown to the guardian of that base; but the referee decided that he was “out,” and from that decision there was no appeal. |
