Text | Spalding is certainly not one of the most difficult pitchers to bat; his style has gone out of date, the same as has Zettlein’s. the successful pitchers of the day are the swift throwers, Devlin and Bond, for example. Nearly all the prominent ball players of the country have been batting Spalding for years, and have outgrown him.
