Text | The custom—first introduced a few years ago by the Chicago Club, when they had two first-class pitchers—of alternating pitchers in every game has been generally adopted during the present season, but has proved to be a very costly mistkake save in those very rare cases where the two pitchers are equally matched in point of playing ability. The Providence Club have presented Radbourn in the pitcher's position in almost every game, and have been remarkably successful—a result that probably would not have been reached if they had used a change pitcher. Other club shave almost invariably won with one pitcher and lost with the other., quoting the New York Clipper |
