Text | Another point in which he [Doug Allison] is not a proficient is, in not being competent to direct a pitcher in strategical play when a game is in a critical position; for this reason the pitcher he faces should always have the command of his catcher. With others the reverse is frequently the case, the catcher doing the “headwork” in strategic play by directing–through private signals–the pitcher how to deliver particular balls. |
