Text | We have just received news of a game of base ball, played recently in China, in which the Shanghai Club contended with the Hongkong Club. After a very spirited contest Shanghai won, in fine style. The game was for a ball and dinner. The Hongkong Club is composed of English cricketers. Our old friend, L.F. Fisler, (brother to W.D. Fisler,t he powerful and most gentlemanly player of the Athletics,) is the captain of the Shanghais, and this accounts for their brilliant success. Bully for Fisler, who introduced our National Game into China. His club has never been beaten. |
