Text	A Philadelphia correspondent, in referring to the Hartford-Atheltic match of May 22, intimates that there was “something wrong somewhere.” He says: “The Hartfords had out their full team, while the Athletic were without Fisler, Eggler, and Rach; and McBride and Richmond, who played, were in no condition to do so; yet the odds, after being 100 to 80 in favor of the Hartfords, suddenly veered around to the same odds on the Athletics, all this change taking place an hour before the game commenced. $1,100 is said to have been paid to two of the Hartfords to throw this game.” …. We do not know how much truth there is in this. If the report is correct, it would be well to offer $1,000 reward for the detection of the parties than lose ten times the amount by not having every man reliable. The Hartford Club is in the hands of men who will not stand even the suspicion of fraud on their nine.
