Text | [a long article demonstrating that batting has been going down from year to year] The duty of the League is plain—to add some provision to the rules which shall give the batting more chance as compared with the fielding. There are plenty of plans, and all open to some objection. One of the easiest ways to neutralize the undue effect of the curve pitching would be to wipe out the batman's box and let him go where he chose sidewise. Another way would be to put the pitcher back a little. |
