Text | ...If the pitcher sees an adversary at the bat whom he knows to be very fond of hitting heavily at a particular kind of ball, and generally to one position of the field, by a private signal he places his fielder in the right spot, and then pitches the ball just where the batsman wants it, and away it goes, amidst the plaudits of the crowd, far out to leftfield, only to be held in style by the fielder, judiciously placed there for the purpose. |
