Text | Season after season the Detroits have been criticised for their miserable base-running. The local papers have printed altogether columns of comments on this question, and still there is no improvement in this direction. The team, with possibly the exception of one or two members, is without doubt the poorest one in the League in regard to this point. It actually requires a hit and a good one to advance a runner from base to base. If a Detroit player secures first he apparently thinks that the man following must do something to get him along the line. |
