Text | [from Caylor’s column] Have you noticed that the Chicagos give every pitcher his regular turn? The Athletics are doing the same thing with success. Manager Sharsig told me he would not have his team depend upon one pitcher more than another. He made them understand that every pitcher was equally good and the team must have as much confidence in one as in the other. Isn’t that a good idea? I believe the Cincinnatis would do well to alternate Viau, Mullane and Smith. Three better pitchers would not be pitching by August if each took his turn, regardless of the results of the individual games. |
