Text | The New York World says that in the Haymaker Rockford game Fisher played rather a mean trick in the ninth inning. One of the Rockfords, after batting to third base, started for first, Flynn fielding the ball to Connors before the man reached the base, but Fisher placed himself between the umpire and the base, and Mr. Dabney was unable to see for himself whether the ball reached Connors first or the runner his base. AS it was, he decided the striker not out. |
