Text	[from an interview of Nick Young] The attendance at the League games during the season of 1888 was the largest in the history of the game. [N.B. This is probably not true.] The patronage of base ball has shown a steady increase from year to year, and I do not believe it has reached its maximum by a large majority. The game is constantly growing in popular favor, and its hold upon the better class of citizens in the various communities becoming stronger as the honesty and integrity of the game are more clearly recognized.
