Text | An Associated Pres dispatch from Worcester states that Mathews, the pitcher of the Worcesters, has been expelled on account of drunkenness. Chicago Tribune July 14, 1878 Last week it was noted that Mathews had been expelled from the Worcesters for cultivating a too close acquaintance with the cocktail. It now seems that he has been reinstated, though the account does not say how that can be done under the rules.
