Text | [Olympic of Washington vs. Keystone of Philadelphia 7/16/1869] The Olympics are deserving of great credit for the praiseworthy efforts they made in order to keep their engagement with the Keystones, having to travel seven hundred miles in a freight car, just arriving in the city an hour before the commencement of the game. As might be expected, the Olympics were not in the best condition, although they played a very good game in the majority of the innings, the superior batting of the Keystones alone enabling them to win. |
