Text | [reporting on the AA meeting] The playing rules were then taken up. Those of the League were read section by section, and nearly all were adopted down to the section regarding umpires. The article which makes it a penalty to sell liquor on the grounds was quickly slashed out. Mr. Von der Ahe said that the bar represented $4,000 or $5,000 to their Club, and Mr. Thorner followed suit. No delegate objected to the expunging of this article, and as it was held to be naught but a private business matter the liquor law was eliminated. |
