Text | [from an article on the new rules by Chadwick] A new interpretation has been given the rule which gives a called strike on any ball which the batsman intentionally hits to foul ground. Last year every bunted ball which went foul was declared a called strike, now, under the new interpretation, the attempt to bat a ball foul intentionally must be plainly obvious, and it can only be so when repeatedly done, and not so when it is obvious that it is the reverse of a good batting point to play to hit the ball foul, as in the case in bunting a ball when a runner is on a base. |
