Text | [reporting on the League meeting] Mr. Hulbert, of Chicago, President of the League, came to the meeting fully determined to permanently withdraw from the position he has so long and so acceptably filled. When the matter of election of officers came before the Convention today he stated that he would not be a candidate for reelection, but this at once aroused a unanimo9us sentiment of opposition, and, when he formally declined, a motion was made and carried that he be the President for the ensuing year. Thus the matter stood when the meeting adjourned, and it will be further discussed to-morrow, Mr. Hulbert having declared this evening that he must insist upon his declination. |
