Text | A good deal of excitement was caused in base ball circles to-day by the publication of a petition, signed by some forty or more of the stockholders of the Columbus Club, requesting the Directors to call a meeting of the stockholders, and to make an exhibit of the financial and other affairs of the club. It is understood to be a drive a Phillips, the Manager, who is charged with extravagance in management. The Directors claim there is no ground for complaint, and that they will probably accede to the request. They profess to have confidence in Phillips, who does not seem disturbed over the matter. |
