Text | [from an interview of George Wright] “I will be one of the directors. My friends have been urging me for several seasons to organize a 25-cent professional team in this city, but I have been so busy with my affairs that I have been unable to give the matter the attention I desired. There are a great many gentlemen who, like myself, have been connected with base ball ever since the organization of a professional team in this city, that think there is room for a new nine. I am of the opinion that it will add, instead of injure, the Bostons, and that the game has so increased in popular favor that two clubs can easily find support. |
