Text | Base Ball. - At a meeting of the Grocery Base Ball nine, held at the store of C.W. Hawes & Co., Capt. R. Kohler and A.C. Dart were appointed a committee of arrangements. After conferring with the dry goods committee it was decided that the game be played on the Wapello base ball grounds, on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Wm. H. Dart was appointed captain, with M.W. Wiser as scorer for the Grocery Nine. Phil Mitchell was appointed captain and James Hodges scorer for the Dry Goods nine. Mr. John G. Devoe was unanimously chosen to the responsible position of Umpire. The committee earnestly request every man on both sides to be present and do his level best. Mr. Cropper with an efficient corps of police will be on the grounds to preserve order. Seats will be provided for spectators. The ladies are requested to take back seats as the balls may fly wild.
