Text | The election of officers for the ensuing year being next in order, Mr. Davidson, of the Mutuals, stated that he thought some professional player should be chosen for president, and not an outsider. He therefore nominated a gentleman well known by the profession, and who is respected by all, Mr. Robert Ferguson, of the Atlantics. ... Mr. Ferguson, in a neat speech, thanked the convention for the honor conferred upon him, which he said he considered not only an honor to him, but to the entire fraternity. His desire was, that the business of the meeting be gotten through with as quickly as possible. |
