Text | [Athletic vs. Olympic 6/21/1871] The umpiring in this game...was a decided feature. Mr. Holly gave the spectators a fine exemplification of the rules, and the other gentlemen present who act in that position were much benefitted thereby. He not only keeps the pitchers down to their work, but he also admonishes batsmen that they must strike the first good ball that comes along. |
