Text | [Chicago vs. Cincinnati 8/2/1877] One old gentleman approached us coming home from the game last night and tried to bribe us to say that the Chicagos kicked in the last half of the last inning, and so prevented the Reds from winning. But after consulting with the Directors, it was not clear how a kick by the Chicagos at that particular time could have wrenched victory from the grasp of “our boys.” [Chicago won 15-1.] |
