Text | One of the best improvements on the new [Philadelphia] grounds will be the system of sewerage adopted, which will keep the grounds in a fit condition to play on at all times. New sewers are to be build on Broad and Huntington streets. Under the diamond the ground will be drained by the French system. Stones will be laid on a gradually descending plane along the foul lines and near the bases and the water will flow off as fast as it reaches the surface. The water from the diamond will be collected at a given point and rained through underground pipes into the sewers. |
