Text | [Philadelphia vs. Athletic 7/4/1874] The Athletics were blanked [in the seventh innning], Cummings pitching with more speed, his “rotary twist,” which he was so faithful to, having been pretty well poulticed. ... Cummings’ medium pacers were, as they have been and always will be, nice as pie crust. He put on more speed towards the close, and the result was a single run in four innings. |
