Text | The “Base Ball Guides” and “Books of Reference” which have been published from time to time have contained essays on the importance of nines being placed under the control of one person, who should see that the players were properly trained to the working of their respective positions, and who should be clothed with power to command. The efficacy of this system has been amply demonstrated in the Cincinnati “Red Stocking” nine and others in different parts of the country, and at last the Mutuals have adopted it. |
