Text | [St. Louis vs. Brooklyn 8/2/1889] Arlie Latham was in a particularly good humor and kept up a steady chatter. He and Comiskey discussed the points of the play across the diamond while the St. Louis boys were in the field, or else Latham would invite discussion with Burns, who was coaching the team from the captain's lines. He was highly amusing and largely dulled the sting of defeat for the spectators. St. |
