Text | All the [Cleveland] players are now in a town near the Canadian border, and will stay there until they have signed regular contracts to play with the Brooklyn Club next season. These will be signed next Tuesday. All the pledges were given before the men were released, to be in harmony with the amended American Association constitution, and all the pledges given are good. … ...there is no danger but that such men as Phillips, Hotaling, Bushong, Krieg, Harkins, Pinckney and Smith will live up to their agreements. These seven players, with Swartwood, Jack Hayes, Cassidy, Terry and two strong League players whose release will be purchased by the club, will form Brooklyn's playing team for 1885., quoting the Cleveland Herald 1/6/1885 |
