Text | Charles B. Wheeler, representing the Cleveland Base Ball Association, has brought suit in the Erie County Supreme Court against Henry V. Lucas, of St. Louis, to recover $2,000, which it is alleged he agreed to pay for the resignation of the Cleveland Club from the National League. The consideration for the franchise was $2,500, of which $500 was paid down and $2,000 was to be paid when the St. Louis Club was admitted. The St. Louis Club was admitted, but Mr. Lucas has not paid the $2,000. The Cleveland managers caught Mr. Lucas in this State [New York] and at once began suit against him. |
