Text | [reporting on the NL special meeting] Had the Detroit Club resigned, there would have been a splendid opportunity for the Cincinnati Union Club. Detroit, however, sent on a delegate, who stated that his club was on a good financial basis, and was ready to play out another season. This, of course, settled Cincinnati's chances for the present, and President Thorner, who had come to the meeting on the invitation of a League official, did not put in an application. |
