Text | The local [Columbus] papers have been scoring Manager Phillips and certain members of the local team for several days, and the lack of success on the Western trip has been laid at Phillips' door. It has been charged that he will not strengtnen the team where it is needed—at short, first, second and center—for the reason that he receives a bonus from Richmond, Kuehne, Straub and Mann. It is also charged that the directors would send a man with the club on the Eastern trip because it did not want Phillips to handle the money. |
