Text | [Gothams vs. Eckfords 8/29/1858] We would suggest, in this connection, that some measures be adopted by the clubs in Brooklyn to mitigate interference with the game on the part of boys who congregate at all matches played there. The crowd should always be kept at a proper distance from the players, and there should be present sufficient police force of the members of the contesting clubs to prevent boys from stopping or interfering with the ball. This is a cause of complaint generally among New York clubs who have visited Brooklyn to play in matches, and it should be remedied. |
