Text | [Atlantics vs. Athletics 10/22/1866] Wilkins stood at the bat again until “two balls” and “two strikes” had been called, and struck foul after foul. At last the umpire called three strikes on him, and Mills, who thought he had caught him out, did not throw the ball to first. Somebody told Wilkins to run, and he did run, and then Mills threw the ball to first, but too late. A first-class muffin proceeding all round. |
