Text | In Boston last Thursday “Orator” Shaffer refused to tell Umpire Sullivan what sort of a ball he wanted, high or low, and the umpire rightly called two strikes on George before he knew it. McKinnon and Glasscock kicked, but were met by the following reply from Sullivan:--”I will call every ball that passes over the plate a strike, if the batsman refuses to tell me what kind of a ball he wants. |
