Text | [Mutual vs. Athletic 7/20/1872] [Boyd at second, thrown out at the plate trying to score on McMullin’s hit] Bad judgment was shown here. As there were no hands out, it was not necessary for Boyd to be so anxious about getting home; in doing so, he made a most miserable start, and seeing that the point would be close, forgot to slide. The captain should have exercised his judgment at this point...
