Text	[from the New York correspondent] The sale of the Mets to the Brooklyn Club was anticipated by many, for the team has not been a profitable concern since it entered the American Association. In 1880, 1881 and 1882, as a League Alliance team, playing exhibitions with all the prominent League teams, it made money, and its success led its owner to purchase the Troy League team and join the League. That was in 1883, and in that year the Mets joined the American Association, since which time money has been lost on it.
