Text | Mr. Vonderhorst, of the Baltimore Club, always having an eye to business, is an advocate for a new schedule to be worked next year, which would provide for a series of games in the middle of the season, between the American Association and the League. “Instead of compelling a club to make so many trips either East or West,” said Mr. Vonderhorst, “arrangements could be made to have fewer trips, and to have a single series of say three or four games between the clubs of the two associations. The series would be a success financially, because every city having clubs would be anxious to see all the American and League teams. At present, the Baltimore patrons only have the opportunity of seeing a few of the League clubs, whereas I know, if all of them should be compelled to stop here, it would be a feature in the business, and money can be made in it. After the close of the series each association could continue its championship series. It is too late now to advocate a scheme of this kind, but it will receive attention before 1888. |
