Text | The Detroit Base Ball Club is out of debt, and has a cash balance in its treasury of $18,000, the earnings of the past two seasons. There are two classes of stockholders in the club. The small fry want a dividend, while the capitalists favor the accumulation of a surplus, to provide for an unsuccessful season. The last-mentioned faction propose that they only distribution of the proceeds shall be the giving to each stockholder of a season ticket. The small shareholders say they were overruled last year, and now threaten to apply for the appointment of a Receiver, unless there is a dividend declared forthwith. A fight is imminent. |
