Text | [Boston vs. Chicago 6/27/1878] In the fourth inning yesterday Snyder caught a foul tip from Start's bat on the mask, and it had force enough to break one of the steel bars. Unless these bars can be made strong enough to resist a hit, it becomes a question whether a catcher would prefer being bruised by a ball or cut by broken steel. |
