Text | [reporting on the AA special meeting of 6/7] The cases of the reserve jumpers next occupied the attention of the meeting. It was generally believed that there would be no trouble inputting these men—Bradley, Gleason and Weaver—once more into good standing, but when the motion was made to reinstate, amendments were offered to include Mullane, under suspension for a year, and Dave Rowe, blacklisted by St. Louis. This complicated matters at once and led to a long discussion and so much feeling was developed over the motion that those in favor of it saw that it could not obtain a two-thirds vote, which was necessary to pass it, and the motion was withdrawn, and it was finally decided to stand by the action taken in the meetings in Pittsburg and Baltimore, and not to recognize the contracts of any players who had been black-listed for reserve-jumping or contract-breaking. |
