The neighbor came to the school to complain, and later a boy confessed, and then the rest of the players said they would chip in to pay for damages. "A thrill of pleasure seemed to run through the school at the display of correct feeling." New-Hampshire Gazette, May 11, 1847; the story is there credited to the Bangor [ME] Whig.
