Adin Ballou grew up in a minister's home, and his amusements were of the "homely and simple kinds, such as hunting, fishing, wrestling, wrestling, jumping, ball-playing , quoit-pitching . . .Card-playing was utterly disallowed. The autobiography was accessed 11/15/2008 via Google Books search for "adin ballou." The book has no references to wicket, cricket or roundball.
