Description

(AP--7 Nov 2015) Soldiers played a baseball game with local Kosovar youth at a US military camp 40 kilometres (24.8 miles) south of Pristina on Saturday. US soldiers taught youngsters the basics in the game in the hope that Europe's fastest growing sport - and the US's so-called favourite pastime - will take off in the disputed territory. The Global Youth Baseball Federation organised the game with the ultimate objective of forming Kosovo's first baseball league. The Federation's European Director, Michael Johnstone, said that the organisation hopes to create a baseball centre that "can be used for tournaments and for baseball academies for all the Balkan region and throughout Europe."

Kosovo is currently recognized as an independent nation by 98 countries, but not Serbia, which claims Kosovo is still part of their nation.
