Text | Clinton, in his debut as a pitcher [with the Atlantics], showed that he had speed and tolerable command of the ball; but he should avoid all the preliminary motions in delivery that he can; for the moment he makes one of these movements, and fails to follow it up by delivering the ball, he commits a balk—that is, he cannot make such movement and afterwards throw to a base. Therefore he should avoid as many such movements as possible, especially that of moving his forward foot with a series of steps. |
