Text | June 29 the Carlisle amateur club of Philadelphia played a match with the colored nine of the Williams club on Columbia avenue and Twenty-fourth street, in the presence of a large crowd of interested spectators. The Carlisles anticipated considerable fun in the match and an easy victory. To their chagrin and surprise, however, the colored men whipped them handsomely by the appended score...
