Text | The new code of rules governing the contests in the professional arena for the coming season is a decided improvement over the crude code of 1872. One noteworthy amendment is that which prohibits all clubs entering for the championship from participating in any “exhibition” or “tournament” contests with any other side in the arena until each have played their quota of championship games. The application of this rule last season would have saved the fraternity from the discreditable result of some of the October contests. |
