Text | [Atlantic vs Mutual 8/17/1868] The Union grounds never presented such a beautiful sight as on this occasion. The grass had been cropped close and rolled; the base spots, from pitcher’s to catcher’s position, had been moistened and rolled, and the bases, foul lines, home and pitcher’s plates and lines, were distinctly drawn and whitened. |
