Text | There is a move on foot to establish an extensive base ball ground at the northern portion of this city [Hudson City, now part of Jersey City], adjoining the Paterson plank road, the ground for which has already been secured, the same to be controlled by a stock company. They propose fencing in the ground, building suitable outhouses, each club to have its own house; also to erect a fine hotel, with all the necessary accommodations, both for ladies and gentlemen. There will be three practising grounds and one match ground, each to be provided with seats, the main ground to seat ten thousand spectators. |
