Text | [from Answers to Correspondents] Is it allowable for the pitcher to deliver a ball (over the base) directly to the catcher, and too high for the batsman, for the purpose, for instance, that the catcher should send the ball to the second or any other base, to anticipate a runner? ... The duty of the pitcher is to deliver the ball as near as possible over the home base and for the striker. |
